How much does a playtest cost on PlaytestCloud?

Indie Pass includes 5 Video Tokens per month. A Video Token is our usage-based pricing currency. One player playing your game up to 60 minutes costs 1 Video Token, for example.

What can I playtest if my game isn’t ready yet?

Playtesting early is smart! You'll save tons in development costs and know exactly how your game will sell when it launches. You can run a playtest on a competitor’s game, or get feedback on concepts like art, steam page, game trailer, prototypes, or run a survey or interviews to learn more before you build!

What’s different about Indie Pass and your other subscription plans?

We wanted small studios to have the same access to player insights as major studios, but we know pricing can be a challenge. Indie Pass has fewer options than our Professional plans (for example, no access to kids playtests or custom research) and more payment flexibility (month to month or annual). Talk to us for more details.   

Is there a free trial of PlaytestCloud?

Yes! New users can order a playtest and watch two players play their game for up to an hour (or however you choose to use your 2 free Video Tokens). Sign up here.

What if I don’t meet the requirements for Indie Pass?

Talk to our team! Our requirements (fewer than 15 employees, less than 1M in funding) are designed to keep Indie plans affordable for small studios, and there may be exceptions for special circumstances.

How does targeting work? Can I choose my specific player profiles?

With basic targeting, you'll specify basic demographics like location, age, gender and gaming interests, and we'll automatically recruit panelists that fit for your playtest. This gives you more realistic feedback from your ideal target audience. Custom targeting goes deeper for even more niche audience targeting. Learn more about player targeting here.

You can also add another recruitment layer to find even more specific players with a custom screener. Our research operations team will work with you to get the exact right players for your playtest.

What if the players don't like the game?

Don't worry, they'll tell you! Panelists are paid regardless of their opinion or if something goes awry. This ensures honest feedback and protects your investment in playtesting. You can even add surveys to see if players would have churned (or paid to keep playing).
